Brightspace for Women
Brightspace for Women
What is it?
A 6-month development programme focused specifically on women in business
The Programme is designed to support women who are running their own businesses (regardless of size) or are senior managers in organisations. It focuses on the particular challenges facing women in business. We work in partnership with women to progress their business performance and actively support their development.
All our Programmes work from the premise that effective coaching starts with the client’s position, values and aspirations. This 6-month programme supports clients in achieving agreed objectives.
What it Does
It harnesses your existing skills, builds on your current thinking, and helps create the route to achieving your goals.
We do this by focusing your work around our 3 key elements:
1. **Considering**: The challenges/dilemmas you face
2. **Clarifying**: What you want to achieve
3. **Creating**: Possibilities for ….?
Using empathy, insight and questioning, the Programme evolves your self-awareness, alerts you to your possibilities and leads to enhanced performance.
We will work alongside and collaborate with you to design a Programme to meet your needs and the results you want. Outcomes you might expect include:
* Improved self-confidence and self-belief * An understanding of individual strengths and how to capitalise on them * How to make an impact in meetings/presentations * Strategies for dealing with difficult people/environments * A personal plan of action
**_“Paul’s clear, creative and intuitive methods were invaluable to me whilst in the process of returning to work from maternity leave. Paul helped me to create a clear pathway to work, bringing back the focus, re-igniting my enthusiasm for business and establishing achievable goals. I have to say I would describe Paul as a personal trainer of the soul, giving me energy and determination for both the business and the changes in my life.”_**

Why a Programme for Women?
Few developmental coaching programmes cater specifically for women, however we believe that a broad range of women would benefit from such coaching. We also believe that coaching women should be no different to coaching men, and whilst we appreciate that women entrepreneurs and managers have similar development needs to men, they often do have different development contexts;
Senior women managers are frequently in a minority and can feel very isolated. They often benefit less than male colleagues from informal mentors and feedback. There are often few, if any, role models at their level, and more particularly the next level up. Self-awareness sometimes also becomes harder to tap into when in a distinct minority.
Research suggests that women entrepreneurs can differ from men in a number of ways. This includes their motivation for running a business, their attitude to debt and risk, their willingness to mobilise personal financial resources, their management style and their perspective on business growth.
Both women entrepreneurs and managers can also differ in the way they motivate, communicate and manage their staff.

What’s the Advantage of Working With a Male Coach?
**_”Understanding oneself is important but for women in business understanding men is just as important. Paul Pinson offers the perfect combination. A Programme that not only helps you understand yourself and your aims but also crucial insight into how your reflection in the eyes of men may not only inhibit your progress but actually stop you doing what you want to do.”_**

Leading this Programme is brightspace Director Paul Pinson
_“I consider my gender to be less important than my genuine empathy with women and my interest in understanding and supporting them in their work. I am interested in collaborating with you to identify and achieve your goals.”_
Paul’s career as a creative leader in the arts has provided him with considerable experience of managing teams and individuals. These teams have been extremely diverse but have all operated in very people-centred environments equipping him with a strongly intuitive approach together with a high degree of emotional intelligence.
**_”Some friends were bemused by the fact that I had male business coach to help me plan my maternity leave from my business. “What would a man know about those sorts of pressures?” Well they don’t know Paul. Paul has an amazing talent for listening so when you say you have pressures he believes you, takes it in and has the common sense to calmly suggest a few of the issues you may not have considered.”_**
